Natural Remedies for Morning Sickness

Sometimes when you’re pregnant, making changes to your diet is not enough to ease the symptoms of morning sickness. You may not want to use pharmaceuticals to get relief, due to concerns of whether the medication is affecting your unborn child. In cases like this, natural remedies for morning sickness may be the answer.

The two main types of natural remedies used during pregnancy are acupressure and herbal products. Before trying either one of them, check with your health care provider to make sure that they approve of the natural remedy.

Pregnancy Acupressure

Acupressure involves the use of pressure on special points throughout the body to alleviate different ailments. In morning sickness, the pressure point is found just inside the wrist. You can either visit a clinic that specializes in acupressure or you can buy specially made bands that will keep pressure on the pressure points for you. Relief of this kind is typically immediate.

Herbal Remedies

The primary herb used with morning sickness is ginger. Ginger has been used since ancient times for many different types of stomach ailments. It is thought that pregnancy slows down digestion and therefore causes stomach upset. Ginger is supposed to help aid in digestion and quell nausea.

There are many different ways to take ginger. You can try it in a tea such as Earth Mama Angel Baby Morning Wellness Tea. Tea is perfect for first thing in the morning when you wake up, which is when nausea is usually at it’s peak.  You can also drink it throughout the day to not only fight nausea, but keep yourself from getting dehydrated.

Another great product that can be used throughout the day is Preggie Pops which are like regular suckers, but contain ginger. They come in several flavors such as ginger, sour raspberry, sour lemon, sour tangerine, peppermint, spearmint and lavender. They also come in hard candy form in case you can’t have a stick hanging out of your mouth all day.

And if none of these options sounds appealing, you can always get ginger capsules. The dosage is typically a gram a day, split up into three doses – follow the directions on the package you purchase.

Natural remedies have been used for thousands of years and are still used today for many ailments. When other methods don’t work for your morning sickness, these morning sickness natural remedies may be just what you need to help relieve the discomforts of nausea and vomiting.
